Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 11:02 am and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Roll Call: Chairman Maurice King, Supervisor Dennis Meis, Clerk Angie Lochinger, Treasurer Josie Napiwocki. 2 Town Residents\Visitors.
Approval of May 20, 2017 Minutes: Supervisor Meis motioned to approve the May 20, 2017 Minutes as presented. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Citizens wishing to Address the Town Board: Chief Leroy Pukrop discussed paying EMS staff for special events coverage. Chief Pukrop explained the EMS unit struggled this past winter to provide coverage for local special events. The EMS unit often receives a donation when covering events and they could possibly use some of those funds to pay their first responders attending. Chairman King stated he will look into it.
Team America Fireworks, Seth Hintz agent for a Class “C” Fireworks Permit: Team America Fireworks has requested a Class “C” fireworks permit to sell fireworks across from the Tiki Bar as they have done the past couple years.
Supervisor Meis made a motion to approve the Class “C” fireworks permit for Team America Fireworks, Agent Seth Hintz. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Approval of Use of Town Roads for Point Duathlon on July 15, 2017: The Point Duathlon is a yearly YMCA event that has requested permission to route their annual event through the Town of Dewey on Saturday July 15th 2017.
Supervisor Meis made a motion to approve use of town roads for Point Duathlon on July 15, 2017. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Disposal of Scrap Metal and Tires: Supervisor Meis has called several places to get prices on disposing the scrap metal and tires. For scrap metal, Billy Mientke offered to take everything and pay us $100. If we include the guard rail and old culverts at the town dump he may pay more. For tires, the best price was Bee Line Tire Recycling in Antigo. They charge $150 a ton and we will have to haul the tires there. Supervisor Meis also talked to the County Executive and the Solid Waste Administer and they said they would possibly be able to get us a dumpster at the County’s cost.
Supervisor Meis motioned to sell the scrap metal to Billy Mientke for not less than $100 and to dispose of the tires to the County for $150 per ton if they can get us a dumpster for that, if not, to Bee Line in Antigo. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Operator’s License (Shipyard): The Board reviewed an operator’s license application for Amy Bottlemy. Supervisor Meis motioned to approve the operator’s license. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Road Work Projects for 2017: Chairman King mad a motion to get equipment rates, road base quotes, granite quotes and chip seal bid documents prepared. Supervisor Meis seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Use of Dust Control on Town Roads for 2017: Supervisor Meis made a motion to check on prices and put down dust control. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Banking Opportunities with Investors Community Bank: Treasurer Napiwocki met with Investors Community Bank. They are offering significantly higher rates that what we are earning now. The Board reviewed rate sheets and discussed options with Treasurer Napiwocki.
Closed Session: Supervisor Meis motioned to enter into closed session as per Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) at 11:47 a.m. regarding employment consideration of candidates for positions of town road & maintenance worker. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Chairman King brought the meeting back to open session at 11:55 a.m.
Proposal to Meet with Candidate(s) for the Position(s) of Town Road & Maintenance Worker to Extend an Offer(s) of Employment: Chairman King motioned to move forward with discussions with Ken Hintz regarding employment as town road and maintenance worker or set up further interviews with candidates interviewed on May 20th. Supervisor Meis seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Treasurer/Clerk Reports: Treasurer Josie Napiwocki read the April Treasurer’s report, and April’s reports were reviewed and balanced.
Supervisor Meis motioned to approve the Treasurer and Clerk reports as presented. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Chairman’s Report: Ken Hintz has been grading and helping Chief Leroy Purkop with some of the snow plow stuff. Chief Pukrop has been doing a lot of patching.
Correspondence: The Board reviewed correspondence.
Approval of Payment of Bills: Supervisor Meis motioned to approve and pay the bills. Chairman King seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Set Meeting Dates & Agendas: The next meetings will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. & Thursday June 15, 2017 9:00 a.m. at the Dewey Town Hall.
Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 12:36 pm.
