April 16, 2019 Town of Dewey Annual Meeting
Note: These are the proposed Minutes that will be approved at the next Annual Town Meeting.

Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 6:30 pm.
Roll Call: Chairman Maurice King, Supervisor Dennis Meis, Supervisor Dave Zdroik, Clerk Angie Lochinger and Treasurer Josie Napiwocki were present. 11 Town Residents\1 Visitors.
Approval of April 17, 2018 Annual Meeting Minutes: Clerk Lochinger read the Minutes. Chief Leroy Pukrop motioned to approve the April 17, 2018 Minutes as read. Supervisor Dave Zdroik seconded. Motion passed 16-0 with no opposition.
Review of 2018 Annual Financial Report: Copies of the 2018 Annual Financial Report were available. Chairman King summarized the report and answered questions. He mentioned in the past year we moved some accounts from Chase Bank to Investors Community Bank where we are earning a substantially higher interest rate. He also pointed out we received approximately $30,000 more in income from our Managed Forest Land crop tax settlement.
Review of 2018 Fire Department Report: Chief Leroy Pukrop gave a report on fire department activity. He reported they currently have 15 members, equipment is in good working order and they will be receiving four portable radios from a DNR grant. In 2018 the fire department earned approximately $7,000 in profit from their annual fund raiser/raffle at Bullheads Bar & Grill Drag Boat Races. This year’s fund raiser will be held at Bullheads Bar & Grill on August 17, 2019. He also explained on the North side of town we currently have automatic mutual aid with the Mosinee Fire Department. He is working on getting automatic mutual aid coverage for the rest of the town with the Town of Hull. Chief Pukrop mentioned they are always looking for new members. Review of 2018 First Responder Report: First Responder Committee Chair Brian Lepper gave a report on First Responder activity. He reported they currently have 7 members and they had 42 total calls which was almost double the 22 calls they had in 2017. He also mentioned the ambulance contract with Stevens Point has not yet been settled, and like last year, the County grant changes continue. Brian Lepper stated they are also always looking for new members. Any thoughts or referrals are greatly appreciated.
Update on town buildings: Chairman King reported we made repairs to the front of the town garage and got estimates to repair the roof. Repairs and insulation to the town garage roof is expected to begin approximately in the middle of May. Chairman King reported the rest of the town buildings are all in good shape.
Any other business as allowed by Law: Chairman King provided a report on roadwork for the coming year. He explained we will be re-graveling Haymeadow Drive, from Oakwood Drive up to the Haymeadow Bridge, which is 2 ½ miles. We will also be doing 3 miles of chip sealing on portions of Sunset Drive, DuBay Drive, Pioneer Road and Republic Drive.
David Smith expressed concerns with the chip seal work done on Chippewa Trail last year. Chairman King stated they will take a look at it. Linda Eichmiller asked for updates on broadband service with Amherst Telephone Company. Jerry Kizewski discussed Haymeadow Bridge, roadwork on Oakwood Drive, concerns with snow plowing on Birch Drive and the need for brushing on Sandy Road.
Adjournment: Bob Fenske motioned to adjourn. Jerry Kizewski seconded. Motion passed 16-0. The meeting adjourned 7:18 pm.
The next Annual Meeting will be held next year on the third Tuesday in April at 6:30 p.m. at the Dewey Town Hall.
